Socratic Method

Edited: December 20, 2019 (v0.0.2)

The Socratic method is a form of cooperative argumentative dialogue between individuals, based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to draw out ideas and underlying presuppositions - implicit assumptions about the world or background beliefs taken for granted.

Given the difficulty of communicating technical concepts, the Socratic method makes for a powerful tool in gaining understanding of a concept among people or teams.

To set yourself and others up for success, make sure everyone is aware of the method and types of socratic questions before jumping into argument. I’ve seen many fragile people react poorly to this type of group problem solving.

Try it out.
